CONFERENCES
MCNC conferences are premier learning and growth opportunities for professionals and high school students alike. They provide opportunities for all members of the MCNC community to establish peer networks across the nation, develop leadership skills, and share best practices. Annually, MCNC runs three conferences, two for adults and one for students.
MCNC Winter Leadership Conference
The MCNC Winter Leadership Conference is geared toward adult school leadership, including teacher leaders, counselors, school administrators, school district personnel, and college liaisons. Member schools are encouraged to bring a team of three people including a teacher or counselor, an administrator, and a college liaison. At the Winter Leadership Conference, attendees are offered the opportunity to network with like-minded peers, review member school national data, develop leaderships skills, and engage in meaningful dialogue about teaching and learning based on research, texts, and best practices.
MCNC Summer Professional Development Institute
The MCNC Summer Professional Development Institute is open to the entire staff of member schools, as well as district personnel and college liaisons. The Summer Professional Development Institute offers member school staff the rare opportunity to meet and debrief the past school year as well as plan for the upcoming year. At the Summer Professional Development Institute, attendees have the opportunity to hear from distinguished educators, attend workshops, network with like-minded peers, become acquainted with best practices, and stay informed on the latest in educational thinking.
MCNC Student Leadership Initiative
The MCNC Student Leadership Initiative is a unique program to develop and highlight student voices within the MCNC community. Each year, selected students from member schools across the nation engage in an 8-month project based around an environmental or social justice issue. Students use social media to discuss and build programs that educate and engage their schools and communities in focused social action. The Initiative culminates each year in the four-day MCNC Student Leadership Conference, where these students gather and present their projects.
